Queen’s Gate

While at 6a architects a client approached us to fully remodel, refurbish and extend an extensive Victorian townhouse on Queen’s Gate, South Kensington, moments from Hyde Park.Inspired by Victorian glass structures at Kew Gardens, we proposed a glazed ‘Glasshouse’ to enclose an existing rear courtyard and form a new tropical garden, with steel walkways and spiral stair to link previous disconnected floors of the house.Leading an experience Design Team including Engineers and a Quantity Surveyor, the project involved significant and complex structural alterations to create open-plan layouts and a complete revamp and modernisation of building services to provide benefits such as underfloor heating, air conditioning and integrated audio visual systems. The project is currently on site and will be completed mid 2020.
