The Perimeter

While at 6a architects Chris acted as the project architect for the extensive refurbishment and basement extension of a Victorian warehouse mews building on Brownlow Mews, Holborn, to form new new private gallery for an art collector.Layers of poor quality building work from the 1970s-80s were stripped back to reveal original fabric of the Victorian mews building. New fair-faced concrete slabs were formed to create double-height spaces. A complex double basement was created under the existing building to provide archive and plantroom space. A sinuous cantilevered concrete staircase links all five floors with a delicate nickel silver and oak handrail.
